Scuttle

In the last few day I finally made my switch from the folder based bookmark manager Sitebar to the tag based Scuttle. There where some things I needed to tweak before I was happy:

  1. I did a new (cleaner) stylesheet – the original one is just not my taste
  2. I wrote a script to import my bookmarks from Sitebar
  3. I tweaked the Scuttle search code to search in the tags as well (bookmarkservice.php.patch)

When I find the time, I want to add a del.icio.us crossposting feature. An AJAX based quick lookup to load in the sidebar would be a great addition, too…

By the way: my Scuttle install is at http://tools.splitbrain.org/scuttle – feel free to create your own account there.

The crossposting feature already exist I think, check http://www.scuttle.org/wiki or the forums. You can also post on the wiki your suggestions.

Thanks.

If I recall correctly, the cross-posting patch was in diff form and was only for the .4 Scuttle series.  It would be great to have a drop in replacement (or have this officially added to the program).  I love the new stylesheet - it's much better than the standard.  I actually tweaked it a bit further and added it to the <a href="http://scuttle.org/wiki/doku.p … i</a>;.  I've been using Scuttle on my server since day 1 and I think it has an exciting future ahead of it.

Nice skin you made there. I hope it is ok that I packed it into a [[http://wiki.foosel.net/snippet … uttlebrain|userscript]] for use with [[http://greasemonkey.mozdev.org/|Greasemonkey]], this way it can be applied to every scuttle installation from client side. Of course I gave credit for the css to you.

nice idea, I've registered an account. There is something that i miss. Nice styled links, cause power of de.icio.us is the control via URL and http://tools.splitbrain.org/sc … ername/tag is not very intuitive . Perhaps you could elimante the php-extension with rewrite rule. I can live with it but there is really lack of documentation in scuttle. bye Steve

Hi, I agree there is not enough documentation. this page is in google top 10 results for 'scuttle documentation' lol. I just installed it successfully though, I had to delete the htaccess file (it caused internal server error), and I had to leave msql port number blank in the config file.

Hi,

I've tried many times to install Scuttle (0.7.2) on my local PC, but it just doesn't work (500 Internal Server Error).
Do you have any ideas why it doesn't work? (I use Windows XP, easyPHP 1.8...)
Your ideas will be very helpful
Thank you

Hi. I just got scuttle installed (it helps to put in the mysql table prefix, not just the name...).  I want to install your bookmark patch, but don't know how...you can reply to my email address if you want.

still using scuttle on my site. I found a Firefox addon to easily store bookmarks to a scuttle site as you surf the web. neat ;)

@VDIAS I simply deleted register.php and removed the links to it.

As the original Scuttle seems to be dead now, there's SemanticScuttle - a fresh new bookmark manager which joins the best of both worlds: Tags + Folders = Hierarchical tags

http://festic.fr/semanticscuttle/

(It also has an option in the config file to disable new users.)
