New Toy: NaviGPS

Some of you may remember my rather lengthy article on finding a gps device for geotagging. Back then the device which mostly fitted my needs, the NaviGPS, wasn't available in Europe.

Last week I got a comment in the same article pointing me to storagedepot.co.uk which now have the NaviGPS with Bluetooth. So I did order one and it arrived today.

I cannot say much about it yet, but will put more info in my wiki on the NaviGPS page later. However here are some pictures of the box and it's contents for now.

After about a month with your new toy: What's your opinion? This seems to be exactly the thing I'm currently looking for. What did you pay for it, including customs, postage...?

Johi, the Navi GPS power supply simply has an USB plug to connect the usual USB data cable. To charge the device you can either use an USB port of your computer or get an AC to USB converter. I think Pearl should have such thing in their catalouge in Germany. Of course a travel adapter would work as well.

I simply use the power supply which came with my RIO Carbon which works exactly the same as the Navi GPS one, but has German connector.

Your efforts on NaviGPS was one of the reasons I bought myself a BT NaviGPS at storage depot. So far I didn't manage to get a connection between the NaviGPS and my linuxbox. My efforts can be red in the talk-list of osm (subject "Navigps and linux"):

It would be great if you could finish your BT-part in the wiki:

So I can find out what the *(&^( I am doing wrong.

Thx in advance and keep on the good work.
