splitbrain.org - electronic brain surgery since 2001

Because everybody is doing it...

The new meme seems to be to blog about having no time for blogging and to post a desktop screenshot instead. At least that's what my peer group seems to think.

Very well then. Here's mine:

screen_empty.jpg

XFCE on a 2560×1024 dual screen setup with this background image: The Beams.

But of course that's not how I ever see it. Usually my desktop looks more like this:

screen_used.jpg

Notice the clever layout of background windows for XChat and Jabber? It makes sure there will be no 5 minutes of continuous work because I will be distracted by every update ;-)

Okay, you're next. You know you want it. Share your desktop.

If I had known what I started ...

Dumb question: Why do you use vim in a terminal and not gvim?

Annoying remark: Your comment form looks weird here (screenshot: http://the-gay-bar.com/splitbrain.jpg) with a Mozilla Firefox [Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092416 Firefox/3.0.3]

Hmm why am I not using gVim? I don't know. I use the terminal for navigation through my files, so using a CLI editor somehow feels natural. But I guess I need to have another look at gVim.

Regarding the comment form... your input fields are too small. I need to mess with the styles... when I feel like it... someday.

Gahh... need. more. coffee.

Well it's probably my GTK+ theme but I do still consider it your fault just because I can. I have the blaming technology.

Even dumber question: Why are you using vim and not Eclipse?
