Google Reader broken

Google Reader Loading Animation Since this morning, Google Reader is broken for me. All I get to see is the loading animation.

There seems to be an error in the XML JavaScript handling and I get the following error in the FireFox JavaScript console:

Error: missing } in XML expression
Source File: http://www.google.com/reader/ui/2714365108-scroll.js
Line: 468, Column: 23
Source Code:
      body {font-family: arial,sans-serif}

The error console

I reported the problem and it seems at least a few others have the same problem.

On the other hand, Google Reader works just fine for a couple of friends I asked. I suspect there might be something in one of my subscribed feeds which Google Reader didn't like :-/.

There is no official Google response, yet. I hope they'll fix this soon. I already feel bad without my daily RSS fix ;-).

Update (9/22): I finally got an answer from a Google representative. It seems the problem is caused by being subscribed to the “shared item feed” of another Google Reader user who recently deleted his account. It's said they are working on the problem - I will update this post when it works again.

Since this morning, I have the new version of Google Reader (with a new search box at the top and a collapsible side bar). Perhaps you should just clear your browser cache?

Dietrich, that was the first thing I tried. I even tried to use the alternative Wii GUI and installed a fresh Opera to check another browser - no change. It remains broken for me :-(

Yeah. What sucks most is that there is no official Google response. So I'm not even sure they are aware of the problem :-/. Luckily I did an OPML export about a week ago. It's importing into Bloglines as we speak...

I prefer http://www.netvibes.com/.  It is more speed and easily to read many sindicated sites.
