Meme: Your Favorite Desktop Linux Software

I'm currently very busy at work, which means I do not have much energy left for blogging. So let's do something simple and fun: inventing a new meme :-).

The rules are easy:

  1. blog a list with your favorite destktop Linux software (as many or few you want)
  2. add links to the software project's websites
  3. post these rules
  4. tag three other Linux using bloggers

Here is a list of my current favourites currently:

The bloggers I tag this time are:

Everybody else is invited to grab this one at will.

I'm also interested in suggestions of software that is similar to the ones listed above but might be even cooler for some reason. Let me know in the comments please.

"TEA"? That must have been a typo, I guess you meant "v" instead of "t", "i" instead of "e" and "m" instead of "a", right?

Hehe, I was waiting for a comment like this ;-). Everybody knows that Vim is my all time favorite editor - but it's not strictly a "desktop only software". And I really use TEA from time to time.

Hmmm the apps have to provide a GUI to count as desktop apps right?

BTW WTF Meld? O.o that's cool!!

meld really kicks ass, especially since it's already integrated into git really well (git-mergetool), it's really pretty. Though the color scheme does not work with dark GTK styles to I had to change mine.

Is GQview a fork of pornview? And does it use Qt? Why not use eog? It's glim, GTK based and actually in recent incarnations really good.

No, GQview is based on GTK. Pornview seems to look similar but is not the same.

Michael, yes only GUI tools this time ;-)
