Shed Build - Part 4: Interior

This is part four of the shed building series. Previously:

Flooring

Last time you saw the shed, the shed was just a big empty box.

The first thing to do was to finish the flooring. Originally I wanted to use the same PVC tiles I had used in the basement. Unfortunately the company I had that bought from had been bought themselves and their successor no longer offered the product.

Because I had leftovers (but not enough) I wanted to use the exact same tiles but was not able to find them anywhere.

The ones I ultimately bought are a bit thinner but fine. And because they are thinner I was able to cut them with a utility blade instead having to saw them, which sped up the process and reduced the mess.

Shelf and Drawer

We knew that we wanted the lawnmover to be positioned straight ahead from the door, so it's easy to get in and out. We had some more heavy wheeled equipment that should be parked next to the mover, so I designed and built a shelf around that requirement.

I also wanted a drawer for small stuff. So I built that in as well.

The plan is to use this shelf mostly with Eurobox containers.

Sliding Walls

One thing you can never have enough of in a shed is wall space. Gardentools just want to be hung up against the wall. But how do get wall space without sacrificing storage space? You make the walls movable!

We decided to have another big shelf taking up most of the remaining space of the shed, with sliding walls in front and next to it.

I got some sturdy sliding rail mechanisms from Amazon. I have no idea how the mounting brackets that came with them were supposed to work, they made no sense to me. Instead I simply drilled holes into the steel rails and screwed them to wooden beams. The tool walls themselves are just sheets of OSB.

I had planned to build the shelf behind the tool wall myself, but in the end we decided to just buy a metal shelf. It wasn't cheap, but it's sturdy and we can easily reconfigure the shelf heights should we ever feel the need.

3D Prints Everywhere

Pictures

I am really happy with the interior setup. Everything has its proper place and there's still room to store stuff we don't even know we need, yet.
