Cosytober 2025

CosyTober is a “cosy alternative to #Inktober”. The idea is the same, all during October, each day a prompt is given and artists are asked to draw, paint or otherwise create something inspired by the prompt and post it to social media.

I'm not great at drawing but it sounded fun and I wanted to see how my new Viwoods E-Ink Tablet would fare as a drawing device.

I am happy with the results:

Regarding the E-Ink tablet there are a few things I missed or that could be improved for artsy stuff like this.

  • Layers are absolutely essentiell and the ones in the Paper app work fine. However I wish there was a way to give them custom names.
  • The undo stack is finicky. It resets on certain actions (eg. when switching layers). A bit dangerous if you rely on being able to undo something.
  • A flood fill tool could have come in handy at times.
  • More discrete “colors” eg. levels of gray would have been nice, especially for the “Thinkers” felt marker tool.
  • There is no way to blend colors. Eg. drawing with a pencil on top of an existing color will not necessarily make this color darker.

But overall this worked fine as a drawing tool. At least at my level of skill.
